While you’re in town, you’ll notice that Augusta has its own special charm—and a few unwritten rules. Whether it’s the way we greet each other or how we feel about classic Southern staples, knowing these local truths will help you feel right at home. Here’s a quick guide to navigating Augusta like a pro:
Say “hello”—we’re friendly!
You’ll hear “y’all” a lot. Just go with it.
People dress nicely: sundresses, khakis, and polos are the norm.
Don’t ask about parking at the last minute. Plan ahead or rideshare.
Don’t talk smack about the egg salad. Prefer pimento? That’s fine... Just say it sweetly.
Did you know?
Augusta is the Second Oldest City in Georgia.
Augusta was founded in 1736, making it one of Georgia’s oldest cities, right after Savannah.

👋 Final Thoughts
You’re walking through history, beauty, and Southern hospitality all in one week. Take it in slowly. Talk to people. Savor the experience. If you see a mama snapping photos of azaleas and cheering on the caddies—there’s a good chance that’s me. 💚
Want to be an honorary Southerner? Offer to take a photo for a family or group trying to snap a selfie. They'll think you're one of us—and truly, after that, you are.
