It’s official. I have lost 10% of my body weight in the last 90 days! What am I doing? Keto is working for me. I am being consistent. Image that? I am not drinking calories or carbs. I am being very selective with consuming carbs. Walking at least two days a week. Also, I know that as I inch closer to the “Big Five Oh” losing weight and getting in shape will not get easier. While, in trying different avenues to accomplishing that, I have found that my body does well with a low carb, high fat diet. So, I am training my body to burn FAT for energy!!! One of my favorite blogs, KetoGasm, is a great source for defining terms. They also have a great shopping list and recipes!
Some of my friends think I am nuts for putting butter and coconut oil in my morning coffee instead of milk or creamer. But a quick gander at pinterest: BPC will show you hundreds of pins and boards devoted to the routine. Kerrygold butter is my favorite! You can find it at most larger grocery stores. The immersion blender is key to your coffee not tasting weird. It really doesn’t! I do not even pretend to know all the science or nutrition behind it {google it!} but I know that my body likes the high {good} fat, low carbs start to my day. It’s filling and helps keep my system moving daily. You can find below a short list of terms and acronyms you will come across.
CO: coconut oil
Fat Bombs: convenient made snacks filled with good fats
HFLC: high fat, low carb
Keto: ketogenic
Ketosis: A metabolic state that your body is in, when the liver turns fat into fatty acids called ketones.
LCHF: low carb, high fat
Macros: macronutrients in context of a Keto diet
MFP: my fitness pal {a great app for learning more about food nutrients}
NSV: non-scale victory
WOL: way of life, as in: NOT a ‘diet’
If you are wanting to lose some weight and tone up… Maybe instead of a bowl of cereal at night grab some string cheese and pepperoni! Try it. Hopefully, you might see results like mine.
