Listen, Learn and Lean In were the words that came to my mind. My company, Color Street, had announced they were going to be silent for a day on social media. Then, we were to launch a new style to support our foundation. A couple of my peers voiced concerns that we needed to stop business for the day; not just be quiet on social media. So, I reached out to a friend, one of my own team’s leaders, who happens to be African American to ask her to share her personal thoughts. We spent that day just chatting back and forth. It was a good experience for us both. Eventually, when she reached back out the next day to offer helping bridge the gap, I accepted immediately and started thinking.
Meanwhile, the Lord was stirring in my heart to facilitate a conversation of kind in my community and this is where we landed. Honestly, the logistics worked out quite fast and naturally. I thought of my friends list and keyed in on those who would have varying experiences and skill sets. They all agreed to participate, almost immediately.
Two pastors, a history professor, a guidance counselor and a handful of others zoomed together to learn the answers to these questions. It is 90 minutes long {link below} but it was well worth our time and we think it will be worth yours as well.

How do we talk to our kids and teens about all this?
Lastly, who needs to lead the movement in your community?
